Dean of the School of Informatics
The California University of Management and Technology (CALMAT) is seeking a dynamic, innovative leader to serve as the Dean of the School of Informatics. Working closely with the Provost and the CALMAT Board Chair, the Dean will lead the effort to grow this new school. The school currently offers both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science and Information Technology. The Dean's primary focus will be to lead the efforts in the areas of student recruitment, curriculum design and update, and faculty recruitment and development, while building strong industry connections, and cultivating the school's research and development capabilities.
Established in 2008 to educate global technology leaders, CALMAT is located in downtown San Jose and has a current enrollment of 100. The University prides itself on its innovative and flexible approach to management and technology education. CALMAT currently offers MBA, MS Computer Science and Information Technology, and several undergraduate degrees. It is seeking accreditation from the US Department of Education.
Minimum qualifications for CALMAT's Dean of Informatics include:
- An earned doctorate degree in a related field
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong teaching experience
- At least three years of experience in academic administration
Preferred qualifications include:
- Strong, global IT and high-tech industry connections
- Five years experience as a department chair (or similar experience)
- A record of innovation and/or research excellence
- Familiarity with the higher education accreditation and with the venture forming process
To be considered, candidates must already be located within easy commuting distance of either Monterey Bay or San Jose.
